“There are a dozen reasons for climbing, some bad, and I’ve used most of them myself. The worst are fame and money. Commonly people cite exploration or discovery, but that’s rarely relevant in today’s world. The only good reason to climb is to improve yourself.” — Yvon Chouinard

We all want success.

Whether it is a big house, a nice car, or just the ability to provide for our families, we all want to be successful in some way.

But what does success look like to you?

And more importantly, how do you achieve it?

This blog post will discuss reaching success and achieving your dreams. We will also talk about the importance of having a purpose in life and how to find yours.

First and foremost, success does not happen overnight. It is the result of hard work, dedication, and determination. You will not succeed by wishing for it; you must go out and earn it. This means you need to have a clear goal and be willing to work to reach it. Success is not a destination but rather a journey. There will be ups and downs along the way, but as long as you keep your eye on the prize, you will eventually reach your goal.

Secondly, it is crucial to have a purpose in life. This purpose can be anything that drives you and motivates you to keep going. We hear wealthy and successful people constantly talk about being happy when working and having an evident passion. But the truth is this: most of us don’t know our purpose in life because we are searching outside ourselves for the answer. Most of us believe our purpose is some grandiose feeling. The purpose is simply putting aside all your thinking and thought processes about your work and living your purpose through your work. Achieving your dreams and aspirations takes more than a purpose, though. It takes a clearly defined vision of the future to set you apart from the rest.

The best way to visualize your purpose is through a mountain. Suppose you have ever hiked a mountain or seen a mountain, it is a big goal and a treacherous hike to get to the top of the mountain. The top of the mountain during a hike is called the peak. We must picture our success in life as the mountain’s peak and each trail leading up to the top as our mission, purpose and values. If we clearly define our tasks, objectives, and values for each step of our mountain, we will inch closer daily to our dreams. However, if we don’t have clarity on our mountain, if we don’t set the direction for our trail, if we don’t have a way, if we don’t plan, we surely won’t make it to our peak in life.

We must define what that means and put in the work that follows. But your work does not need to be defined as hard work; it simply is the lead-up to the accomplishments and aspirations you have for yourself. Most people, including myself, will set up goals, dreams and wishes but do everything, on the contrary, to move closer to those goals, objectives and wishes. We work hard at our jobs but don’t put the extra time in to move closer to our side hustle or business. We want to get in shape but do not put in the time at the gym or go on runs. The process of success is simple:

Set a goal -> take massive action towards that goal -> achieve goal

The problem is that most people never take massive action towards their goals. Instead, they get comfortable and content with where they are, even if it is not where they want to be. And that is why so few people achieve success. First, most people don’t clearly define what success looks like, so they don't know if they have ever arrived. Secondly, they do not have the dedication or determination to see it through. So if you want to achieve your dreams, you need to be willing to work and go after it with everything you’ve got.

Now that we’ve talked about success and how to achieve it, let’s talk about the importance of having a purpose in life. As I mentioned, most people do not have a clear purpose in life because they are searching outside themselves for the answer. But the truth is that your purpose is something that you define for yourself. It is what drives you and motivates you to keep going.

Your purpose can be anything you are passionate about or anything that brings you joy. My purpose is to help others create freedom for themselves through vending machines and honor boxes. I love seeing others succeed and reach their goals. It brings me joy and fulfilment knowing I played a part in their success.

If you don’t have a clear purpose in life, I encourage you to take some time to figure out what it is that makes you happy. Once you know your purpose, setting goals and achieving success will be easier.
